Circuit of the Americas announces new clear bag, lawn seating policies

COTA said the changes will "expedite entry and improve venue safety, making it easier than ever for fans to get lost in the music."

AUSTIN, Texas — Circuit of the Americas (COTA) wants music fans to feel safer and get to their seats faster.

On Monday, the venue announced changes to its bag and lawn seating policies ahead of the 2020 concert season at the newly-renamed Germania Insurance Amphitheater

COTA said the changes will "expedite entry and improve venue safety, making it easier than ever for fans to get lost in the music."

According to the new policies, all bags entering the venue must be clear unless they are smaller than 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches. Bags are not allowed to be larger than 12 inches by 12 inches by 6 inches.

The new policies also state that lawn chairs and blankets bigger than 30 inches by 60 inches will not be allowed.

"We want everyone who attends a concert [at the amphitheater] to have an unforgettable experience. These policies are intended to create a fun, safe environment for all of our guests," said Rick Abbott, COTA's chief operations officer.

The venue's 2020 concert series starts on March 14 with RÜFÜS DU SOL. Fans that arrive early to that show will receive a free clear tote bag from Germania Insurance while supplies last. Bags will be available for purchase at amphitheater shows throughout the season.
