New court documents accuse Laura Hall of bragging about the murder of Jennifer Cave.
Colton Pitonyak's defense attorney says the appeal he filed last week in Travis County could clear his client's name.
Jennifer Cave's mutilated body was found in the apartment of Pitonyak in 2005.
This was a brutal case; she was stabbed 29 times. Whoever did that had a lot of hatred towards her. Laura Hall is the only person who has shown this sort of vicious hatred for the last several years, said Joe Turner, Pitonyak's defense attorney.
According to more than 60-page appeal document, Laura Hall told her cousin and his roommate in 2005 she was going to get away with murder.
In June 2009, Hall told a neighbor in reference to Jennifer Cave's murder, "I capped that (expletive) whore."
Also included in the appeal is Hall's alleged confession to two jail inmates.
"When you look at the fact that she say, 'I capped her,' when you look at the evidence that says she deserved it, when you look at all the anger and hatred she had, well what would you do? I'd certainly want that evidence presented to a jury," said Turner.
Bryan Case, with the Travis County District Attorney s office, said, We stand by our position and conviction of Colton Pitonyak.
Case says he could not comment on Hall's upcoming sentencing hearing.
Additional evidence, never presented during Pitonyak's murder trial, includes DNA from an unknown female found in Cave's mouth and from under her fingernails. Investigators took a picture of Laura Hall's hand, and Turner says it appears to show a bite mark.
A Travis County jury convicted Hall of hindering apprehension and tampering with evidence in connection with Cave's murder.
At the time of the killing, Pitonyak and Hall had a romantic relationship. After Cave's murder they escaped to Mexico where they were captured.
Pitonyak is serving a 55-year prison sentence after he was convicted of murder in 2007.
