CPS Energy lineman electrocuted while working to restore power

Bexar County deputies began life-saving measures but he died at the scene.

SAN ANTONIO — The medical examiner has identified the lineman as 32-year-old Clayton Kloesel.

The CPS Energy lineman was electrocuted while working to restore power on the far west side of San Antonio early Tuesday morning, officials say.

Bexar County deputies responded to the 8400 block of Percheron Pass near Culebra Road in far west Bexar County around 4:30 a.m. for reports of an incident.

BCSO says Kloesel was electrocuted while working on a power line. When deputies arrived on the scene, they began performing life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead around 5:30 a.m.

Hours after his death, members of the community started a vigil to remember Kloesel.

In a statement CPS Energy told KENS 5:

We can confirm the loss of a CPS Energy employee early this morning. We are deeply saddened and our thoughts are with our teammate’s family, their loved ones and our CPS Energy family.
