Cruz readies "major announcement" for Wednesday

Republican presidential candidate Senator Ted Cruz is planning what his campaign is calling a “major announcement” on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Republican presidential candidate Senator Ted Cruz is planning what his campaign is calling a “major announcement” on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Cruz made the announcement to a group of reporters in Indianapolis, according to Politico.com, but Cruz wouldn’t budge on giving out any details early.

“If we were making an announcement at 4 p.m., then it wouldn’t make sense to announce it at 10 a.m.,” Cruz told reporters, according to Politico. “And so, the entire purpose of this is you guys should come, and at 4 p.m. you can find out what the major announcement will be.”

Cruz needs a shot of momentum and good news in his campaign after he was routed in every one of the northeastern primaries held Tuesday night. Cruz finished a distant third in every state that voted Tuesday night except Pennsylvania where he came in a distant second.

According to Politico, Cruz’s campaign has started vetting vice-presidential candidates for a possible ticket. Rumors over the last few days have zeroed in on former Hewlett-Packard CEO and Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina as a potential VP selection.

Cruz has no mathematical chance at winning the nomination before the Republican Presidential Convention. However, if he can get enough of a bump from an announcement; he might be able to get enough momentum to deny Donald Trump winning the nomination before the convention.
