Cyclist hit, killed by driver in South Austin

The victim died on the scene, according to Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services.

AUSTIN, Texas — A cyclist is dead after they were allegedly hit by a vehicle early Wednesday morning in South Austin.

According to Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS), the incident happened just before 1 a.m. at 5500 S. Congress Ave., not far from Stassney Lane. 

First responders said a driver crashed into an adult cyclist, who was injured and later died on scene. 

Road closures are in effect in the area. Drivers should expect delays until further notice.
