Austin police release new surveillance video in 2022 deadly stabbing

Police released video of three possible suspects, a suspect vehicle and three potential witnesses in the case of D'Andre Isaiah Day.

AUSTIN, Texas — On Monday, police released new video showing three possible suspects, a suspect vehicle and three potential witnesses from a deadly 2022 stabbing in Downtown Austin.

In a video caught by a witness, 27-year-old D'Andre Isaiah Day appeared to be in a verbal altercation with three other men before he was stabbed at the intersection of Seventh and Colorado streets around 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 4, 2022. Day was found dead on the corner of Sixth and Brazos streets.

The Austin Police Department (APD) said detectives are actively working on the case and have exhausted all leads. A motive for the killing has not been determined. APD said previously that investigators believe the men were strangers to Day and his friend. Based on the investigation, police said it appears to have been an isolated incident.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects and witnesses. Detectives have previously released surveillance footage of the disturbance that led to the stabbing.

Last year, Day's family told KVUE they want to see justice served and to get closure.

"The suspects on Sept. 4th took a lot of joy from my family,” Rodney Anderson, Day's uncle, said. “It's been a trying time for everybody concerned with our family, involved in our family, to help close this and help our family out."
