AUSTIN, Texas — UPDATE: Police have now arrested two suspects in connection with this shooting. Learn more.
Police are asking for the public's help in finding suspects in a shooting Saturday, June 8, at a northeast Austin Waffle House.
The Austin Police Department (APD) said officers responded to a call of a shooting at the Waffle House located at 12304 Dessau Road just after 6 a.m. When officers arrived, they found a woman – later identified as 25-year-old Tykeisha Lewis – who appeared to have been shot.
Austin-Travis County EMS medics arrived and took Lewis to Dell Seton Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 8:21 a.m.
Police said a second woman was also shot during the incident. She was also taken to a hospital, where she was in stable condition as of Tuesday, June 11.
APD Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists responded to the scene and interviewed witnesses.
According to an affidavit obtained by KVUE on July 8, a security guard on site said he saw a group of juveniles enter the Waffle House between 5:15 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. The group was reportedly causing a disturbance, so the security guard asked them to leave.
The suspects allegedly started fighting with the two women and their two male friends in the parking lot before getting into a black Dodge Durango, which might have been a "HellCat" model. A series of gunshots were then heard outside, and the women were later found laying on the ground.
That same day, APD Det. Christopher Chandler recovered a shell case from the Waffle House matching one found in a drive-by shooting on March 17 at a Jack-in-the-Box parking lot on East Braker Lane.
More than a week later, the APD Homicide Tip Line received a call from a man stating he recognized his brother, Irving Antunez, as one of the suspects in a photo shared by police in a press release.
Antunez was reportedly seen entering his home in a Ring camera video just hours after the shooting. He was later identified as a suspect in the drive-by shooting less than a month earlier.
Other tip callers were able to identify Pflugerville resident Emmanuel "Manny" Perez, who reportedly drives a black HellCat, as one of the other suspects.
Below is an image of the four suspects APD investigators initially said they were looking for. APD believes all of the suspects are each between 16 and 20 years old.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact APD at 512-477-3588 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 512-472-8477. An anonymous tip can also be submitted online.
A reward of up to $2,000 may be available for information that leads to an arrest.
This is being investigated as Austin's 25th homicide of 2024.
