AUSTIN — Pace officially received its permit to operate in Austin.
The company said they are deploying bikes throughout the downtown area.
The city recently announced that any dockless transportation operating in Austin must offer lock-to technology.
Pace said they have been a lock-to dockless provider since the company's start.
"And given that Pace is one of the only bike share companies in the industry that actually fulfills that requirement, we were really excited to jump in on that permit," said Chad Jacobs, the Austin Expansion Manager with Pace. "We're the only company to date that's been permitted in the city, and we're the only company that's launched this week."
Pace bikes officially launched at 9 a.m. on Monday.
