Police searching for several people in connection with Downtown Austin shooting

Investigators said there was a large fight between multiple people, leading to the shooting.

AUSTIN, Texas — Police are searching for several people in connection with a shooting in Downtown Austin on Sunday, Aug. 4, that left a man hospitalized.

The Austin Police Department (APD) said at approximately 2:24 a.m., officers responded to the sound of gunfire near East Seventh and Trinity streets.

A man was found at the scene with an apparent gunshot wound. Austin-Travis County EMS took him to a local hospital, where he is still being treated.

Investigators said there was a large fight between multiple people, leading to the shooting. On Tuesday, Aug. 27, APD released images and video of people believed to have been involved in the disturbance.

Police believe there are other videos of the fight and/or shooting that could lead to the identification of the people involved.

Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to contact APD’s aggravated assault unit at 512-974-5245 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.
