TEXAS, USA — The Texas Department of Public Safety says DPS Driver License Offices (DLOs) across the state are closed due to a "technical issue."
Customers with appointments should have been notified of the closure.
"Our IT teams are working diligently on a fix, however there is no current estimate on when DLOs will reopen," DPS said. "Please monitor DPS’ social media & the DPS website for updates."
A Microsoft outage is currently affecting Windows systems worldwide. The outage has caused issues with airlines, banks and other businesses. The outage is believed to be connected to CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity firm based in Austin.
CrowdStrike president and CEO George Kurtz posted on social media regarding the Microsoft outage around 6 a.m., saying the issue was not related to any kind of cyberattack.
"CrowdStrike is actively working with customers impacted by a defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts," Kurtz said. "Mac and Linux hosts are not impacted. This is not a security incident or cyberattack. The issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed. We refer customers to the support portal for the latest updates and will continue to provide complete and continuous updates on our website. We further recommend organizations ensure they’re communicating with CrowdStrike representatives through official channels. Our team is fully mobilized to ensure the security and stability of CrowdStrike customers."
