The newly issued licenses and ID's will be REAL ID compliant, marked by a gold star in the upper right corner.

AUSTIN, Texas — Editor's note: The attached video is about how about 20% of Texans' don't have a REAL ID yet.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) began issuing Driver's Licenses (DL), Identification (ID) and License to Carry (LTC) cards that feature a new design on Feb. 24.

The new DL, ID and LTC cards will be made from a more tamper-resistant and more difficult to reproduce polycarbonate material. Additionally, the new designs will feature a laser engraving, which will provide an added layer of protection against alterations and forgeries.
