AUSTIN, Texas — A suspect has been arrested after a deadly crash earlier this year in northwest Austin.

According to the Austin Police Department (APD), Jeremy Josue Giron Hernandez was arrested on Oct. 8 for his involvement in a collision on Aug. 7.

Police said the crash happened just after 2:30 a.m. along the 6800 block of Hart Lane in West Austin. Four people were inside the vehicle during the incident, which did not involve any other cars.

The driver and two passengers were able to safely leave the scene, but one passenger, 16-year-old Andrew Fonseca Reyes, was taken to a hospital, where he died on Aug. 8.

After further investigation from APD's Vehicular Homicide Unit, law enforcement said Giron Hernandez was driving the vehicle, which was stolen, at the time of the crash.

An arrest warrant went out for Giron Hernandez on Oct. 1, and he was arrested earlier this month in Williamson County.

It was the city's 50th deadly car crash this year and the 53rd death.
