Driver who died after being ejected from vehicle in North Austin identified as 54-year-old

Police say a driver was traveling very fast near Rundberg Lane around 2 a.m. when their car hit a parked car and flipped over.

AUSTIN, Texas — Austin police said a 54-year-old man died after his vehicle hit a parked car and landed against a North Austin business Sunday morning.

Police said Sept. 1 that the driver was traveling very fast near Rundberg Lane around 2 a.m. in the frontage road of Interstate 35 when the car left the roadway.

The car traveled through a business parking lot and hit a parked vehicle and landscaping stones before landing against a building. The driver was ejected from the car and died at the scene. Police identified him Sept. 3 as a 54-year-old man. His name has not been released yet.

A passenger in the car was taken to a nearby hospital. The passenger's condition has not been released.

Police said to always be aware of other drivers around you.

"Just slow down, watch for everybody, look at your signs, your lights and be aware of your surroundings," said Senior Police Officer Marie Bynum.
