ELGIN, Texas — The Elgin Police Department is searching for a suspect after three separate drive-by shootings that hit homes and vehicles this month. Police said the incidents all happened in the 500 block of East Alamo Street.
On July 8 at around 8:40 a.m., officers responded to a disturbance call on the street. Investigators said an unknown person engaged in a drive-by shooting, striking multiple vehicles and homes.
On the same day, at 2:47 p.m., officers responded to a property damage call in the same area. The on-scene investigation determined that numerous bullets had struck a home, Elgin police said.
On July 24 at around 3:27 a.m., police responded to another report of a drive-by shooting in the 500 block of East Alamo Street. Officers arriving on the scene located numerous shell casings in the road.
No members of the public have been injured during the incidents, police said. But some neighbors – like Ricky Nolan, who lives across the street – are concerned for their safety.
“It’s not good for the kids and, well, not good for nobody staying here, you know. We got elderly people living here too, and other kids, small kids, little kids, teenagers. And it’s like, there’s just a lot of drama going on," Nolan said.
Nolan was in his house on July 8 and July 24 and heard the gunshots.
The Elgin Police Department said it is actively investigating the cases as deadly conduct incidents. During a press conference on Thursday EPS said they have reason to believe all three incidents may be related.
