AUSTIN, Texas — Early voting is underway in Texas ahead of Election Day on Nov. 5. The last day to vote early is Friday, Nov. 1.
In Travis County, eight voting locations will have extended hours on the last two days of early voting. They'll be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.
That includes:
- Austin Permitting and Development Center (6310 Wilhelmina Delco Drive)
- Ben Hur Shrine Center (7811 Rockwood Lane)
- Carver Branch Library (1161 Angelina St.)
- Lakeway Activity Center (105 Cross Creek in Lakeway)
- PfISD Rock Gym (702 W. Pecan in Pflugerville)
- Southpark Meadows (9300 S. I-35 frontage road)
- Travis County Clerk (5501 Airport Blvd.)
- UT Texas Union (2308 Whitis Ave.)
The rest of the polling places across the county will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through the last day of early voting.
So far, early voting turnout in Texas is lagging behind the last presidential election.
As of Sunday night, more than 5.4 million Texas voters had cast ballots in person or by mail. That's nearly 30% of registered voters.
But in 2020, officials extended the number of early voting days. When there were five days of early voting left in 2020, 7.3 million voters had cast their ballots. That was about 43% of registered voters at that time.
