Fairmont Austin Hotel evacuated, two hospitalized due to carbon monoxide leak

Seven floors of the hotel in Downtown Austin were evacuated, officials said.

Portions of the Fairmont Austin Hotel were evacuated and two people were hospitalized Wednesday due to a carbon monoxide leak, the Austin Fire Department said.

Located at 101 Red River Street, the AFD said elevated levels of carbon monoxide were determined to be boiler exhaust spread back into building through fresh air intake at the hotel.

Floors one through seven were evacuated and two people were transported by EMS for further evaluation, officials said.
