After a mother was killed during an argument with her husband in South Austin over the weekend, her 24-year-old son and his family will now be taking on the cost of raising the young family she left behind.

Nicole Volmer, 40, was found with gunshot wounds in her home near Onion Creek Parkway on Dec. 18 after police say an argument between her and her husband, Michael Volmer, escalated.

Nicole leaves behind four children who range in age between 15 and 7, according to a gofundme page called "Volmer Family Fund" which was created for her son and the rest of his family. They are in need of funds to meet immediate needs such as funeral costs, legal fees, counseling for the children, moving expenses and school books and clothes for the kids.

In just 12 hours, $20,000 was raised, according to the gofundme. Go here to donate.

Nicole was one of two women killed over the weekend in Austin in domestic violence incidents. Domestic violence -- or family violence -- is one of the most common cases for police. And while domestic violence or family violence calls are fairly common, they're also among the most dangerous.
