Family of 3 displaced after North Austin house fire

AUSTIN, Texas -- A house fire in North Austin caused two adults and a child to be displaced Tuesday morning.

According to Austin Fire, they responded to the house fire in the 501 block of Capitol Drive, near Rundberg Lane, just before 5:15 a.m. Crews said they saw smoke emitting from a window.

According to fire officials, the family made it out of the home uninjured.

Austin Fire said they rescued one turtle from the home but two birds died in the blaze. Authorities said the fire was contained to one room of the home, but the entire house suffered smoke and heat damage.

According to Austin Fire, the cause of the fire was an accidental electrical issue and damages are estimated at $15,000.
