The family of the man shot and killed by Austin police over the weekend believe there's more to the story than what police have revealed.

Austin Police Department Interim Chief Brian Manley said patrol officers received reports of a shots fired on 6th Street. He said HALO cameras caught a man matching the description of a person who was identified by family Monday as Landon Nobles. His cousin, Roy Nobles, said within minutes, he saw officers make their way toward his group.

“I seen my cousin run from behind me,” he said.

Police said while chasing Nobles, he pulled out a pistol and shot at officers. Family members, who are also witnesses, said they saw something completely different. They said one officer caught up with Nobles.

"[She] had a bicycle and she threw it at him, at his legs, and he kind of fell and when he fell, a gun went off,” Roy said.

The family said it’s unclear if Nobles was carrying a gun, but his cousin said that's when he began running again. Officers then fired their guns, killing him.

“He was fun, loving, a great father -- just a person who had a lot of life,” Nobles' uncle, Archie Kelly Jr., said.

He believes the situation got out of hand.

"I feel when it comes to African-Americans, the standards are different. They use deadly force, and that's not right,” Kelly Jr. said.

His family is now forced to say goodbye to the father of two.

"You know [he] kept a smile on everyone's face, made everyone laugh,” Roy said. "We're still in shock, everybody is just hurt right now."

The family is demanding police release those security camera videos in hopes the truth will be revealed.
