Oil storage tank struck by lightning outside Fayetteville, sparking fire

As of 3:15 p.m., the fire has been extinguished.

FAYETTEVILLE, Texas — Crews responded to a fire outside Fayetteville, Texas, Wednesday morning after an oil storage tank was truck by lightning.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office said one of its deputies was on scene in the 700 block of FM 1291, just outside Fayetteville. Crews from both the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department and Fayette County Emergency Medical Services were also on scene.

As of 3:15 p.m., the sheriff's office said the fire has been extinguished. No injuries were reported.
