Field of sunflowers will be in San Antonio until June 26

The field will be 10-acres of various types of sunflowers and there will be a maze to explore the fields.

SAN ANTONIO — A new field of sunflowers coming to the San Antonio area will be the next Instagram sensation!

The sunflower field has been planted at Traders Village and it opened the weekend of June 12 and 13. It is expected to stay open through June 26. The field will be 10-acres of 20 different types of sunflowers, varying in heights of up to six feet.

The Sunflower Field includes a maze with six checkpoints to find to help guests walk all around the field. You can also pick sunflowers to take home for an extra charge.

“Traders Village is celebrating 10 years of serving San Antonio this year; so, we want to do something unique and fun all year,” said Brian A. Billeck, Marketing Manager for Traders Village San Antonio. "Our goal is to create traditions where memories are made. There is nothing like a good Sunflower Field to help that along. We‘ve already had people tell us all sorts of stories about Sunflowers and how it is a part of their lives."

KENS 5 Photojournalist Mike Vigil spoke with Billeck, who shared what sunflowers mean to him and how guests have also been inspired by the beautiful flowers. Take a look at the full video below:

The website says the fields may not be open on some days if there is inclement weather.

There will be professional photographers on hand to take family photos and have them printed on the day of the visit.

Admission will be $7.99 per person and for $14.99, you can upgrade to the combo which includes the Sunflower Field and an All-Day Ride wristband to our 11 theme-park rides inside Traders Village. Included in the admission price will be the Petting Zoo, games/activities and an inflatable slide (weather permitting).
