AUSTIN, Texas — More than a dozen people can no longer return home after a fire Tuesday morning at a South Austin apartment complex.

According to the Austin Fire Department (AFD), crews arrived to find the fire burning through the roof of a two-story apartment at 6808 South Interstate Hwy 35 southbound.

AFD said six total units were impacted: three from the fire and three from water damage.

Fifteen residents were forced to leave the apartment as management and the Red Cross work to find them new places to stay.

No injuries were reported, and responders are working to determine the cause of the fire.

This is a developing story. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
