Firefighters injured in house fire west of Austin

One of the firefighters reportedly fell through the stairs of the home.

VOLENTE, Texas — A house fire early Friday morning left two firefighters injured in Central Texas.

At approximately 12:30 a.m., crews responded to a fire at 8132 Beauregard Drive in Volente, Texas, not far from Lake Travis.

A firefighter attempted to climb the stairs to reach the fire on the second floor, but they ended up falling through to the ground below. They were taken to a hospital in Round Rock for minor injuries and are expected to make a full recovery.

A second firefighter was also treated at the scene after overheating. They did not require further medical assistance.

The stairs reportedly collapsed because of current construction happening at the residence.

The fire eventually rose to the attic but has since been put out. There is no known cause at this time.
