AUSTIN -- If you were to search online for the best breakfast food truck in Austin, chances are this spot would pop up.
Biscuits and Groovy is out of sight. One look at their menu and you'll be digging it too.
Step into their food trailer and you'll come down with a fever -- disco fever that is. If breakfast is your thing, hustle on over to Biscuits and Groovy off 51st and Duval.
Owner, John Lach built the trailer himself back in 2010.
"Our two best sellers are the Gloria Gaynor and the Johnny Hash," said Lach.
"Gloria Gaynor was the queen of disco so it is the queen of the biscuits: three biscuits, gravy, three scrambled eggs, sausage, jalapenos, bacon, cheese and chives," he added.
So basically everything but potatoes on this dish.
As for the Johnny Hash?
"A lot of people confuse it with Johnny Cash, but it is actually named after Johnny Hash: the guy who sang 'I can see clearly now' -- the disco guy," said Lach.
This one comes with biscuits, gravy, potatoes, bacon, sausage, cheese and chives.
There's always a homemade jam of the day.
"We've got bananas foster, pomegranate port wine, peach and carrot cake."
And you can wash it all down with some freshly squeezed orange juice. Lach says on any given weekend, he can serve up to 500 biscuits. With other menu items like the Donna Summer and the Bee Gee, the 70's theme sure is memorable.
Everything at Biscuits and Groovy is prepared to order so there is a wait, but it's well worth it.
"You get to listen to disco music, eat really good biscuits with really cool toppings," said Lach.
Aside from 51st and Duval, Biscuits and Groovy has another location on Barton Springs Road across from the Peter Pan Mini-Golf. They can do everything on the menu real, vegan or vegetarian.
