Former fire lieutenant charged for placing hidden camera in women’s locker room, police say

Former fire lieutenant James Baker II has been accused of placing a video recording device in the female locker room and shower at a fire station.

A former fire lieutenant has been accused of placing a hidden camera for video recording inside the female locker room and shower at the Central Fire Station, police said.

On Sept. 4, the victim told police that she saw the suspect, James William Baker II, leaving the female locker room she was about to enter. After she took a shower, she noticed a small blue light pointed in the direction of the shower area, police said. Upon further investigation, the victim allegedly found an H2 1080P spy camera that had been concealed under a rolled cord of Christmas lights.

Baker allegedly attempted to bargain with the victim to get the camera back, and offered to retire or transfer from their department, police said.

Baker has been charged with the offense of invasive visual recording. Baker retired from the Austin Fire Department after police began investigating the allegation against him.
