Days after a Travis County deputy was killed at his Round Rock home and weeks after five officers were killed in Dallas, former University of Texas quarterback Colt McCoy had the perfect gift delivered to local police: Doughnuts and coffee.
Currently a quarterback for the Washington Redskins, McCoy was the starting quarterback for the Longhorns from 2006 to 2009. The Leander Police Department posted on their Facebook page Tuesday afternoon that the former Longhorn made the delivery in hopes that a "... note (and these donuts) ..." found them well.
"Being tasked with the job of protecting the community of Austin is an incredibly difficult job, and your servitude is both honorable and commendable," the note attached to the doughnuts read.
After thanking them "for all that (they) do," McCoy ended the note with his signature.
