PEORIA, Ill. — An 8-year-old girl has died in Peoria following a medical episode during a flight from Missouri to Chicago.
Around 7 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, a flight from Joplin, Missouri to Chicago was diverted to Peoria International Airport after the girl became ill and unresponsive, according to a news release.
Upon landing, the girl wasn't breathing and had no pulse. Authorities attempted to perform life-saving measures, but she was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The Peoria County Coroner's Office identified the girl as 8-year-old Sydney Weston of Carl Junction, Missouri.
An autopsy was inconclusive and pending results. There were no signs of foul play and no signs of abuse, according to the Coroner.
