LAKEWAY, Texas — As part of its expansion efforts, Google Fiber is bringing its service to another Central Texas community.

On Monday night, city leaders in Lakeway unanimously approved an agreement with Google so the installation of its high-speed internet service can begin.

The agreement will allow Google to begin applying for permits in Lakeway so construction and rollout of its network can begin. Customers can then sign up for the service once the fiber is installed.

According to its current timeline, Google Fiber expects to start construction in Lakeway by late 2025, with service becoming available as soon as portions of the network are completed in the area. Lakeway residents can sign up for updates on the network's availability by visiting the Google Fiber website and typing in their address.
