AUSTIN, Texas — A single mom and her three children from Round Rock are getting a new home.
Austin Habitat for Humanity teamed up with Kendra Scott on Saturday for its Women Build Austin initiative.
The initiative will go on for four months, aimed at engaging and empowering women to take action against the lack of sustainable housing in the community.
“Having a home, a home to bring your children to, is such an amazing feeling, and I think for all of us to support those in our community, whether you know them or not, that is what Austin is all about,” says Scott. “I'm so proud to be a part of this and give that gift to another family.”
Scott contributed $10,000 towards Saturday’s build, alongside other female-oriented companies like Bumble and Austin Women magazine.
Habitat for Humanity has had women's builds in 1991, but this is the first year the initiative is in Austin.
