Hamilton Pool reopens for swimming May 1

Swimmers can return to Hamilton Pool Preserve on Monday, May 1.

Swimmers can return to Hamilton Pool Preserve on Monday, May 1.

Travis County Parks temporarily closed the pool after two people drowned in 2016. While the pool was closed, staff members installed a loaner life jacket kiosk at the entrance to the pool where swimmers can borrow a life jacket free of charge. The life jackets are available in a variety of sizes. There are also life jacket kiosks at Bob Wentz Park and Mansfield Dam Park on Lake Travis. Throw rings have also been placed around the pool in case a swimmer is in distress.

The pool may be closed on occasion due to high bacteria counts based on Texas State Health Department standards. Bacterial water testing is conducted at the pool on a routine basis.

Remember, online reservations are required to visit the pool from May 1 until Sept. 30. Reservations cost $10 per vehicle plus a park facility use fee of $15. Reservations are available between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. or 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. You can make a reservation here.

The $15 park facility use fee must be paid upon entry to the park. Credit and debit cards are not accepted on site.

The reservation system went into effect last year due to the popularity of the pool. All reservations are final and cannot be refunded or rescheduled.
