The Estom Yumeka Maidu Tribe of the Enterprise Rancheria has started construction on a new Hard Rock casino project located near Wheatland’s Toyota Amphitheater.
“Together, our goal is to bring the best, most exciting and authentic gaming, hospitality, and entertainment experiences to Northern California,” said Tribal Chair Glenda Nelson in a statement released Friday to ABC10 News.
The Hard Rock Fire Mountain Casino is being built on a 40-acre site a little more than 35 miles North of Sacramento.
“Hard Rock Fire Mountain will bring significant construction and permanent jobs, entertainment and dining options, and spur economic development in south Yuba County,” said County Supervisor Gary Bradford.
The tribe proposed to build the Enterprise Rancheria Project in 2002, however a number of legal battles with the state halted the work. The former project proposal included plans for a 170-room hotel with a pool, restaurants, bar, casino, and more. That project was estimated to have a more than $200 million yearly impact and create more than 2,000 permanent jobs.
The tribe has yet to release any other information about the current project. The Moody Investment agency reports that the project is expected to be completed by 2019.
