WIMBERLEY, Texas — Swimming season has arrived at an award-winning spot in Hays County.
On Thursday, the city of Wimberley announced the start of the summer swim season at Blue Hole Regional Park.
"The start of the swim season ... marks the beginning of cherished memories and endless summer fun," Richard Shaver, director of Wimberley's Parks and Recreation Department, said. "We invite everyone to join us in celebrating the beauty of nature and the joy of community at this beloved Wimberley gem."
The announcement of the swimming season might surprise some. Last August, Blue Hole Regional Park closed its swimming area for the remainder of the summer because of low water levels. The same thing happened the previous August.
And just this week, the Hays County Parks Department announced Jacob's Well – located 5.3 miles from Blue Hole – will be closed to swimmers indefinitely due to low water levels.
While Central Texas has seen notable rain this week, with more storms possibly on the way, local waterways haven't been too greatly impacted.
