Downtown Buda under boil water notice, including most of Main Street

It's unclear when the notice will be rescinded, as the city is testing the water to ensure its safety.

BUDA, Texas — A major line break has parts of Downtown Buda under a boil water notice.

City leaders said the line break happened Wednesday along South Loop 4 near the Bella Vita area, causing pressure levels to drop below the state-required minimum.

Residents in the affected area are urged to boil water for consumption for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth and washing hands or faces.

Who is affected?

The boil water notice impacts:

  • The Bella Vita subdivision
  • Downtown Buda along and west of Cedar Street
  • along and south of San Antonio Street
  • along and north of Goforth Road
  • along and east of Arveda Lane

Businesses in the area are also impacted. Nate's Coffee & Cocktails on Main Street said it would be closed until further notice. However, MudBugs - A Cajun Joint, said it would open and that they started boiling water and buying water bottles to deal with the notice.

What should you do?

To ensure your water is safe:

  • Boil all water used for drinking, cooking or making ice
  • Bring water to a vigorous rolling boil for at least two minutes and let it cool before using
  • Use bottled water or another safe water source for consumption

How long will it last?

It's unclear when the notice will be rescinded, but the city said the notice will stay in effect until testing confirms the water is safe.
