Gary Cutler defeated challenger Tommy Ratliff for the republican nomination for Hays County Sheriff on Tuesday.
Cutler had 62 percent of the vote compared to Ratliff's 38 percent of the vote as of 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Cutler has been sheriff since 2010, according to KVUE’s partners at the Austin American-Statesman. The election is the third time Cutler and Ratliff have faced each other in an election.
Cutler will face off against Rodrigo Amaya, who was the only democrat running for the position.
