DRIPPING SPRINGS, Texas —
The State Bar of Texas has further disciplined a Dripping Springs attorney who was previously accused of hiring an unlicensed attorney.
An investigatory panel issued a public reprimand for Dorothy Lawrence in late March after a hearing in February.
The most recent sanction for the owner of the Dorothy Butler Law Firm comes after three former clients filed complaints against Lawrence.
Two of them spoke to the KVUE Defenders about how Lawrence mishandled their cases.

The panel found that Lawrence neglected legal matters entrusted to her and that she failed to keep each client reasonably informed about the status of their matter.
In January, a different panel issued a two-year probated suspension for Lawrence after finding that she employed Nichole Humes for four years. Humes was charged with passing herself off as an attorney when she was not licensed to practice law in Texas. Six people, including attorneys, filed complaints against Lawrence that resulted in a hearing in November.
An attorney with the State Bar of Texas said they cannot confirm the existence of pending grievances as pending disciplinary matters are considered confidential.
