Heat brings out scorpions, and their babies, across Central Texas

These venomous creatures might be around and about because of the Texas heat. According to Texas Parks and Wildlife, the scorpions may be looking for places to cool off.

AUSTIN — Several scorpions have been spotted around the Austin area recently, but not just any scorpions. These scorpions are fully loaded with their babies on their backs.

Texas Parks and Wildlife shared a photo Tuesday on their Facebook page of a scorpion mom with her babies on board in Austin.

Several Austinites shared their own photos of the scorpions families they spotted in the area.

These venomous creatures might be around and about because of the Texas heat. According to TPW, the scorpions may be looking for places to cool off.

TPW said the best way to protect yourself from scorpions is to seal around doors and other cracks and spaces in your home.

According to TPW's Invertebrate Biologist Ben Hutchins, if you want to remove them, use the "cup and paper" method.
