One of the fastest growing cities in Texas is finally getting the one thing residents say it lacks

The H-E-B will be more than 100,000 square feet and carry a price tag of $26.1 million.

MANOR, Texas — Manor is one of the fastest growing cities in Central Texas, but many residents said it lacks one major thing: a grocery store.

That will change in Fall 2025 after a groundbreaking was held Wednesday for a new H-E-B. It's just part of how the city is trying to address food insecurity as it grows.

Manor Mayor Dr. Christopher Harvey said city leaders wanted to bring a grocery store to an area since it's a food desert.

"There are communities around us that have to travel 10 to 15 miles to a grocery store," Harvey said. "That's pretty tough, especially people with transportation challenges. Or for our senior community who always don't have access to someone to take them to the grocery store."

The H-E-B comes as the city continues to grow. According to the mayor, the city has grown 242% since 2010. Manor's population is now more than 16,000 people when just 14 years ago, it was about 5,000.

Lola Alberts has lived in Manor since 2007 and said she's excited about the new grocery store.

“Healthy food ... It’s convenient, the prices great, and will be easy on senior citizens,” Alberts said.

According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the H-E-B will be more than 100,000 square feet and carry a price tag of $26.1 million. The store will be part of the larger Manor Commons Shopping Center.

The entire development will include The Home Depot and other retail shops, some of which are set to open within a year.
