The best route to take will be via US 290 East to Interstate 10 East from Austin, Texas to New Orleans, Louisiana. Your commute time on this route is just a little over seven hours.

The optimum time to travel is early morning, as the busiest travel times are between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. for Monday, Dec. 31.

Drivers can expect a slow down if traveling during overnight hours once they reach Beaumont, Texas due to construction affecting eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 10 East.

The Texas Department of Transportation said there is no construction working this weekend or on New Year's Eve affecting traffic, other than what drivers will come across in the Beaumont area.
