High speed chase ends with crash near Kyle

Two people were taken into custody Monday afternoon in connection with a carjacking and high-speed chase that ended outside of Kyle.

Two people were taken into custody Monday afternoon in connection with a carjacking and high-speed chase that ended outside of Kyle.

Hays County officials say it started when a Chevy Tahoe was carjacked outside the San Marcos outlet mall. Two men took off in the Tahoe, and a Hays County deputy spotted it shortly later.

The deputy began chasing the truck, and at one point, a DPS trooper joined in. The Tahoe was driving down Highway 21 at speeds over 11 miles per hour.

The trooper's car wrecked near the Gary Jobs Corp. building. The Tahoe crashed at highway 21 and High Road. Both people in the Tahoe were taken into custody.

One was transported to Central Texas Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries and the second suspect was taken in for questioning, according to San Marcos officials.
