1 dead, 1 injured in northeast Austin homicide, according to APD

This is Austin's 56th homicide of the year.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) is investigating the city's 56th homicide of the year early Friday morning in northeast Austin. 

In a media briefing Friday, police said they responded to a call about a disturbance before 2 a.m. in front of a restaurant at 900 E. Braker Ln. 

Law enforcement said they found two males between 20 and 30 years old suffering from injuries. They provided assistance until the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS) and Austin Fire Department (AFD) arrived on scene. 

One of the men died around 2 a.m. and the other was transported to a hospital, according to APD. 

Responders said two people have been detained, and law enforcement believes this is an isolated death. 

No suspects have been named at this time, and police said there is no threat to the public.
