1 killed in northeast Austin homicide, police say

An additional victim was injured and taken to a hospital in the city's 56th homicide of the year.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) is investigating the city's 56th homicide of the year early Friday morning in northeast Austin. 

Police said they responded to a call about a disturbance before 2 a.m. near a restaurant at 900 E. Braker Lane. Police said they found two men between 20 and 30 years old suffering from injuries. 

They provided assistance until Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS) and Austin Fire Department (AFD) crews arrived on scene. 

One of the men died around 2 a.m. and the other was transported to a hospital, according to APD. 

First responders said two people have been detained, and law enforcement believes this is an isolated incident. 

No suspects have been named at this time. Police said there is no threat to the public.
