AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Fire Department (AFD) responded to a fire early Thursday morning at an empty home in Downtown Austin.
According to AFD, crews arrived just before 4 a.m. to a home currently under construction at 605 W. 18th St.
The fire reportedly started in the basement and spread to the exterior walls of the property. There was no one inside the home at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported.
Responders said the fire started after a plugged-in cord overheated and exploded inside.
