Several people, 2 cats rescued from northwest Austin house fire

The Austin Fire Department and Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene.

AUSTIN, Texas — One person is injured after a house fire late Monday night in northwest Austin. 

According to a social media post from the Austin Fire Department (AFD), crews arrived to the 12000 block of Ganymede Court after receiving reports of smoke coming from the home. 

The fire reportedly started sometime before 11:15 p.m. inside a bedroom, and AFD rescued everyone inside – including two cats.

An adult was treated for non-life-threatening injuries by the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS), but they have since been released. 

AFD told KVUE that arson investigators were on scene to determine the cause of the fire.
