How you can help those affected by Central Texas flooding

Many are in need after flood waters rushed through Central Texas communities. Here's how you can help.

CENTRAL TEXAS — While it's unclear how many residents have been displaced after massive flooding prompted evacuations in Central Texas, there are many who are in need of help.

We have put together a list of resources for those who are in need, but you may be wondering how you can contribute.

The Red Cross is supporting several shelters throughout the area. Click here to donate to the Red Cross.

The Austin Disaster Relief Network Survivor Hotline has been activated for Hill Country flood survivors and will remain open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for support. ADRN is need of financial donations to fund materials for recovery needs. If you'd like to make a donation, call 512-806-0800 or click here. Burnet County

Those looking to donate various supplies regarding the relief effort for the Burnet County flood can go to a central collection point that has been set up. Starting at noon Oct. 17, people can bring their donations to the First United Methodist Church located at 1101 Bluebonnet Drive in Marble Falls. The phone number for this location is 830-693-4341. They are accepting the following supplies and urge people to bring in new supplies only:

  • Bottled water and Gatorade. This is their primary need
  • Cleaning supplies including gloves, bleach, cleaners with bleach, laundry soap, utility rags, paper towels, wipes and hand sanitizer
  • Tools including shovels, rakes, wheel barrows, large fans, work gloves, buckets and sorting bins
  • Commercial garbage bags
  • Gift cards for Home Depot, Lowes, Wal-Mart, H-E-B
  • No used clothing or furniture

The central collection point for volunteers, clean-up crews and people wanting to help or needing help with clean-up is the Marble Falls First Baptist Church located at 901 La Ventana in Marble Falls. The phone number for this location is 830-693-4381.

A meeting of organizations and groups interested in helping with cleanup/debris removal will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church located at 105 RM 1431 in Marble Falls. Please send one representative per group..

Llano County

Officials in Llano County said Wednesday at a press conference that they are accepting donations on behalf of those who have been affected by the flooding. They said they are accepting monetary donations through the Llano Chamber of Commerce.
