AUSTIN -- Indeed, the world's number on job site based in Austin, announced plans Thursday to expand in Austin.
The expansion will create as many as 3,000 new jobs over the next several years, which could position it to be among the largest tech employers in the city.
“We are committed to growing in Austin, a city that is a proven tech hub with excellent access to talent and a community that encourages innovation,” said Indeed President Chris Hyams. “As one of Indeed’s founding cities, it has been a great place to grow our organization over the past 13 years as we’ve helped millions of job seekers find new opportunities.”
Indeed stated the expansion will include two new office developments totaling over 615,000 square feet. The company signed a lease at Block 71 to occupy the top 10 floors at its location at Sixth and Lavaca and is developing the full Domain Tower. The new offices will be in addition to to its northwest location off Loop 360, while its current downtown location will be replaced by Block 71.
According to Indeed, this multi-office strategy will help minimize traffic impacting the city of Austin, giving employees options for public transportation, carpooling and alternate routes. Indeed stated it has quadrupled its global headcount in the last three years.
“Indeed is a hometown success story and a great example of what type of innovation and opportunity find root here in Austin,” said Mayor Adler.
Indeed was founded in Austin and Stamford, Connecticut, in 2004. Today, it employs 1,600 employees in Austin and 6,100 people worldwide. They currently have 27 offices around the world.
