After President Obama visited the South by Southwest festival earlier this year, the White House announced today that on October 3 they will host the first South by South Lawn festival at the White House.
The American Film Institute, President's Committee on Arts and Humanities and South by Southwest will work in coordination with South by South Lawn for the event, which will be comprised of three parts: Interactive, Film and Music.
The interactive portion of the festival will include panel discussions and interactive booths where attendees can engage with and learn about new technologies.
The film portion will feature the Third Annual White House Student Film Festival. Students in grades K-12 have submitted more than 700 short films for this year's theme, 'The World I Want to Live In.'
Various well-known and emerging artists will make up the music portion of the event.
You can nominate yourself or someone you believe is making an impact in your community to attend the festival here.
