AUSTIN – A jury has found Jack Stick, former chief counsel for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, guilty of DWI on Monday, according to his attorney.

According to KVUE's partners at the Austin American-Statesman, Stick was pulled over near the intersection of West Sixth and West Lynn around 11 p.m. on Sept. 11, 2012 for speeding, drifting lanes and failing to signal. A blood test administered after his arrest showed his blood alcohol level was 0.096.

Stick resigned from as chief counsel in December 2014 after officials concluded contracts the state gave to data analytics firm 21CT were awarded unfarily.

The Statesman reported both sides on the case are meeting in an attempt to come to an agreement on a punishment.
