AUSTIN, Texas — A body found near the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center last month has been identified as missing 58-year-old man Jon Stamm.
Stamm was reported missing on Tuesday, June 11, after he was last seen at his home in the 10400 block of Wolftrap Drive in South Austin that morning.
At the time, police said there were concerns for his wellbeing.
Officials said Stamm’s body was found at 4801 La Crosse Ave. on Thursday, June 20, by a staff member during an inspection. The staff member alerted police, who responded to an urgent “check welfare” call.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found the body showed signs of decomposition. The Austin Police Department said foul play is not suspected and this is not being investigated as a homicide.
In an update on Monday, July 8, APD said the Travis County Medical Examiner had positively identified the body as Stamm.
An active investigation is ongoing and no other information is available at this time.
