Police searching for suspect who fired gun during South Austin break-in attempt

Police say a homeowner woke up to a suspect trying to break into their vehicle around 2:15 a.m.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department is looking for a man they say attacked a homeowner on Kandy Drive in South Austin on Friday, Dec. 29.

Police say a homeowner woke up to a suspect trying to break into their vehicle at around 2:15 a.m.

The suspect tried to leave the area in a stolen white Hyundai, but the victim followed the suspect. That's when the suspect pulled out a gun and fired it at the victim's car.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic man in his late teens or early 20s with a small, thin build. He was armed with a 9mm handgun. He was last seen wearing a white, red and blue hoodie with “Polo” on its right sleeve and “1967” on its left sleeve. He was also wearing black or dark blue shorts with white print, and white and black shoes with red at the toe.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 could be available for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
