Richard Overton, who was the nation's oldest WWII veteran, will be laid to rest Saturday. Overton died on Dec. 27 days after he was released from the hospital for pneumonia.
KVUE will be airing the funeral on air and online Saturday.
Overton's funeral arrangements will be as follows:
- Public viewing from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Cook Walden Funeral Home located at 6100 North Lamar Blvd.
- Funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shoreline Church located at 15201 Burnet Road
- Burial at the Texas State Cemetery at 2 p.m. Saturday
Representatives from Fort Hood said Thursday that they were practicing to be a part of the funeral, which is why Apache helicopters could be seen over Austin.
