LAGO VISTA, Texas — As the water level in Lake Travis rises, residents who once lived in lakefront property are now getting a whole new appreciation for the term 'lakefront.'
Lyle and Tracy Nelson have lived in their home for more than 20 years. It sits just down the road from 'The Island' condominium community. With the help of some friends and neighbors, they were able to get things that sat in their garage and art studio out of the waters way.

"Yep, we're gonna put it up in front and we have a storage shed we're gonna put it in later," said Lyle. "We're just kinda precautionary because they're talking 710 feet."
People from all across Lago Vista began to help out, including their neighbor and friend Dan Beauchamp.
"We're good friends so we came down here to look and see if they needed any help," said Beauchamp. "There's a lot of old people out here that we all know each other."
While the water won't reach their house which sits at 717 feet, their garage and studio will have up to 2 feet of flooding if the lake rises to the expected 710 feet.
The only things the Nelson's can do is follow the cliche, "prepare for the worst and hope for the best." But Lyle has his own saying to follow:
"You can't let it get to you, you just have to keep going forward," he said.
